Reclaiming Our Spot in Eternity.

As we find ourselves in the midst of December, time seems to be slipping away from us. The COVID-19 pandemic has left an indelible mark on humanity, and we've begun to live life in a "microwave" style – rushing to grasp every fleeting moment. While it's true that "life is short," we must remember that this earthly existence is merely a precursor to the eternal life we were created for.

The Deception of Worldly Pursuits.

1 John 2:15-17 warns, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires will pass away, but whoever does the will of God will live forever."

We often find ourselves chasing after material possessions, relationships, or fleeting pleasures, only to realize that these things ultimately leave us empty and unfulfilled. The example of Black Friday sales, where people risk physical harm for the sake of discounted goods, serves as a stark reminder of our misplaced priorities.

The Love of God: Our Greatest Pursuit.

Psalm 73:25-26 declares, "Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

As we navigate the holiday season, let us not forget the greatest gift of all – the love, mercy, and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. His sacrifice on the cross at Calvary has secured our eternal inheritance, and it is this love that we must pursue above all else.

A Call to Reclaim Our Spot in Eternity.

Hebrews 12:1-2 encourages, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith."

As we approach the Christmas season, let us remember that our true purpose is not to accumulate worldly possessions or fleeting pleasures but to reclaim our spot in eternity. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and run the race marked out for us with perseverance and purpose.

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us not forget the true gift of His love, mercy, and grace. May we reclaim our spot in eternity, pursuing a life that honors God and fixes our eyes on Jesus.
