The Value of Hard Work and Respect.
As Christians, we are called to be good stewards of the gifts and talents God has given us. In the book of Proverbs, it is written, "The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops" (Proverbs 28:19, NIV). This scripture emphasizes the importance of hard work and the value it brings to our lives and the lives of others.
As an individual who has experienced both being an employee and a self-employed entrepreneur, I have come to appreciate the value of hard work and dedication. When working for an employer, one's pay is often determined by their experience and the value they bring to the company. Similarly, as a business owner, the services I offer are not just about charging a fee, but about providing value to my clients through my experience, knowledge, and dedication.
In the book of Matthew, Jesus teaches us about the importance of treating others with respect and fairness. In Matthew 20:1-16, Jesus tells the parable of the workers in the vineyard, emphasizing that each worker should receive fair pay for their labor, regardless of when they started working. This parable teaches us that we should respect the value and dignity of each person's work.
In light of this, I urge you to consider the value of the hard work and dedication that goes into building a small business. When interacting with entrepreneurs who are pouring their hearts and souls into their work, let us be respectful of their time, effort, and expertise. Rather than asking for discounts or special treatment, let us acknowledge the value they bring to our lives and be willing to compensate them fairly for their services.
As the apostle Paul writes, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows" (Galatians 6:7, NIV). Let us sow seeds of respect, fairness, and kindness towards those who are working hard to build their businesses and serve their communities.
In doing so, we not only honor the value of their work but also reflect the character of God, who is a God of justice, fairness, and compassion.
