Finding Strength in the Lord: A Reflection on Dependence and Sovereignty
In the stillness of the morning, I find myself turning to the Lord, surrendering my thoughts, mind, heart, and spirit to His loving care. As a strong and independent individual, I've often walked the path of self-reliance, but I've come to realize that true strength lies not in my own abilities, but in my dependence on God. It's not my hard work, energy, or determination that sustain me, but the empowering presence of the Lord in my life. As the Bible reminds us in Ephesians 6:10, "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might." (Ephesians 6:10, NIV)
As a human, I'm prone to distractions that take my eyes off God's goodness and presence in my life. The enemy often seizes these moments to bring worry and lies into my spirit, overwhelming me with doubts and fears. But in those moments of uncertainty, I'm reminded that God is near, and His presence is what I need to hold onto. When I cry out to Him, He responds with guidance, comfort, and strength, reminding me that I'm not alone in my struggles. (Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.")
The verse in Ephesians 6:10 is a powerful reminder of God's might and power in our lives. When we're strong in the Lord, we can face any challenge that comes our way, knowing that His power is greater than any obstacle. As a single woman, I've often felt the weight of independence, but I've come to realize that God is my rock, my refuge, and my strength. He's the one who holds the world in the palm of His hand, and He's the one who reigns supreme over all circumstances. (Psalm 95:4, "In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.")
In moments of overwhelm, it's easy to lose sight of God's plan and purpose for our lives. But when we focus on His might and power, we can trust that He's working everything out for our good. As the Bible says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28, NIV) When we trust in Him, we can face any challenge with confidence, knowing that He's with us every step of the way.
As I reflect on God's presence in my life, I'm reminded that I'm not alone. As a single woman, I have God as my companion, my guide, and my strength. He's the one who empowers me to live a life that honors Him, and He's the one who gives me the courage to face every challenge with faith and confidence. May we all find strength in the Lord and in the power of His might, trusting in His goodness and sovereignty over our lives. (Psalm 28:7, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.")
