The Rain and the Refiner's Fire
As the rain pours down, washing away the dirt and grime of the world, I'm reminded of the cleansing power of God's love. Like the psalmist, my soul thirsts for the living water that only He can provide (Psalm 42:2). In times of uncertainty, when floodwaters rise and fears seem to drown out faith, I cling to the truth that God is sovereign. Not a single leaf stirs without His permission (Matthew 10:29-31).
As I reflect on the recent flood that damaged my vehicle, I'm reminded that God is not limited by the storms of life. He is the Great I Am, always present, always working, even when I don't feel His presence or see His hand at work (Exodus 3:14). When the enemy attacks, bringing waves of loneliness, anguish, and anxiety, I turn to the Psalms for refuge. In the midst of turmoil, David's words become my lifeline: "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God" (Psalm 42:5).
As I focus on work and the storms around me, I sometimes forget that God holds my life in the palm of His hand. But when the weight of the world becomes too much, I remember the truths that set me free. I am chosen, called by name, a new creation in Christ, His beloved daughter, with royal blood running through my veins (1 Peter 2:9, 2 Corinthians 5:17). The enemy may try to dry my spirit, but I rebuke him, knowing that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me (Romans 8:11).
May God's love satisfy me more than riches, and may His presence be my greatest treasure (Psalm 63:3). As the rain continues to fall, washing away the impurities of the world, may my heart remain open to the Refiner's fire, allowing God's love to purify and renew me (Malachi 3:2-3). In the midst of life's storms, I will trust in the God who is always present, always working, and always holding me in the palm of His hand.
