When Rejection Becomes Redirection: How God Used My Firing to Shift My Destiny.
There are moments in life when everything changes in a single day — not because we planned it, not because we were ready, but because God decided the season had ended.
For me, that moment came last July.
I was working as a General Manager at a gym, pouring everything I had into the job. Leadership, discipline, responsibility — I carried it all with pride. I thought I was secure. I thought I was growing. I thought I was building something that mattered.
But one ordinary day, a member came in asking to cancel a contracted membership. I explained the policy, the buyout fee, the options he had. I stayed professional. I did my job.
But instead of choosing integrity, he chose offense.
Instead of speaking truth, he wrote a harsh Google review — one that painted me as the villain.
And my boss, a man who once called himself my mentor, fired me the next morning by text message.
No conversation.
No clarity.
No mercy.
A door slammed shut.
And with that text message, my finances collapsed. My stability vanished. The life I knew fell apart in minutes.
But here’s the part I didn’t see at the time —
God had just begun the greatest redirection of my life.
🌟 From the Pit to Purpose
Losing that job felt like rejection. It felt unfair, humiliating, painful.
But in reality, it was a divine extraction.
Sometimes God will pull you out of a place before it breaks your spirit.
Looking back now, I realize:
- If I had stayed, I would have remained stressed, overworked, spiritually dry.
- If that door hadn’t slammed shut, I would never have stepped into my calling.
- If the rejection hadn’t crushed my pride, my purpose wouldn’t have awakened.
Everything that felt like loss was actually preparation.
Because after I was fired, something supernatural began to unfold:
✔ I started writing.
My books were born out of the wilderness, not out of comfort.
✔ I discovered my calling to help women grow spiritually and emotionally.
What broke me gave birth to my purpose.
✔ “Faith 2B Strong OnPurpose” was born.
A brand rooted not in fitness alone — but in faith, strength, discipline, and true transformation.
✔ My relationship with God deepened.
The wilderness has a way of removing every distraction until all that remains is Him.
🌄 Rejection Was Not the End — It Was the Redirection
Sometimes God will allow people to reject you so He can redirect you.
The job wasn’t your future.
The boss wasn’t your leader.
The environment wasn’t your permanent assignment.
Just like David being forced out of Saul’s house,
just like Joseph being thrown into a pit before reaching Pharaoh…
My rejection was the tunnel toward destiny.
I didn’t lose a job —
I was released into purpose.
✨ The Wilderness Is Not Punishment — It’s Training
When I read Day 4 of my “Wilderness to Destiny” devotional, it hit me in a way I didn’t expect:
God uses rejection as redirection.
Not to destroy us.
But to train us.
Refine us.
Rebuild us.
And today, I can say with confidence:
Look what the Lord has done.
He took the place that tried to break me
and used it to build the woman I am becoming.
If you are in a wilderness right now — financially, emotionally, spiritually — hear this:
You are not forgotten.
You are not abandoned.
You are not failing.
You are being prepared.
The door that slammed shut was never meant to hold your destiny.
God has something bigger, better, and built just for you.
