Do Yo Still Not Understand?

As I woke up to a new day, my mind immediately began trying to interpret the circumstances of my life in this moment. It was not easy to control my thoughts and bring them back to their true priority… Jesus.

Even though I have been struggling for some time now, my life continues, and His care and provision are still present. My mind tried to direct my eyes toward what seems lacking in my finances and provision. However, the Spirit did not allow the enemy to win. He gently led me to Mark 8:14–21.

As I read and understood its meaning, conviction filled my heart, and I quickly asked for forgiveness. I have witnessed His glory in my life these past months—His faithfulness, His provision, His presence. How could I forget Who is with me?

There is this moment in Mark 8:14–21 that confronted me deeply…

The disciples were worried because they had forgotten bread. Yet they were standing in the presence of the One who had already multiplied bread twice. They had seen miracles, but they had not yet understood what those miracles revealed.

Jesus warned them, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Herod.” He was not speaking about food. He was speaking about influence—the quiet corruption of unbelief, pride, fear, and spiritual blindness that spreads when the heart is not anchored in truth.

The disciples misunderstood Him. They thought He was rebuking their lack of preparation. But Jesus was exposing something deeper: their hearts were still measuring reality by what they lacked, instead of by who He was.

He asked them, “Do you still not understand?”

This question was not about bread. It was about identity, trust, and revelation.

They had eyes, but they did not yet fully see. They had ears, but they did not yet fully perceive. They had witnessed provision, but they still feared scarcity.

And this is where many believers live today.

We have seen God move. We have seen His faithfulness. Yet when a new challenge arises, fear returns, and we begin to think as if we are alone.

But Jesus was teaching them—and is teaching us—that when you walk with Him, lack is no longer your authority. Fear is no longer your guide. Circumstances are no longer your truth.

The real danger is not the absence of resources. The real danger is a hardened heart that forgets who God is.

Religious pride blinds. Worldly systems deceive. Fear distorts perception. But revelation restores sight.

When you truly understand who Christ is, you stop living from scarcity and start living from trust.

This passage is an invitation to examine the condition of our hearts.

Are we walking by what we see?

Or by who He is?

Because once you understand that the Provider Himself walks with you, everything changes.

And Jesus still asks today:

“Do you understand?”
