When Remembering Becomes a Weapon: How God Met Me in My Overwhelming Moment.
Today, in the middle of one of the hardest seasons of my life, something unexpected happened. I didn’t receive a miracle check or an instant breakthrough.
Instead, God touched one of the most powerful places in my spirit—
my memory.
As I sat with all the pressure building around me—rent, responsibilities, uncertainty, unanswered questions—my mind didn’t run toward fear like it usually does. Instead, it began to flow gently toward Scripture… toward the stories I’ve read over and over.
Not by my strength.
Not by my effort.
But by the Holy Spirit reminding me of who God has always been.
I remembered:
• The moment the Red Sea split open at the command of God.
• The manna that fell from Heaven when the Israelites could not feed themselves.
• The walls of Jericho collapsing by obedience, not by force.
• The prophets carried by God’s hand through impossible battles.
• The donkey that spoke because God can use anything for His purpose.
• The miracles of Jesus—provision, healing, multiplication, deliverance.
• Lazarus walking out of the tomb after four days.
• John surviving boiling oil untouched.
• Three young men walking out of a fire without the smell of smoke.
• A man named Saul transformed into Paul, proving that no heart is too hard for grace.
And then something shifted inside me.
As I remembered His stories,
I suddenly saw my story differently.
I began to see how God has taken me through every valley:
how He’s provided, delivered, corrected, restored, and carried me with a faithfulness that I didn’t earn and could never deserve.
I saw His fingerprints all over my past.
And in that moment, I felt His presence in my present.
My overwhelming turned into worship.
My fear turned into faith.
My doubt turned into remembrance.
And remembrance is powerful.
Because remembering who God has been reminds my heart of who He still is.
I realized I am not alone.
Not for one second.
Not even in this season I don’t fully understand.
The same God who:
• opens seas
• multiplies little into abundance
• protects His children
• restores what was lost
• brings life where there is none
…that same God is with me, carrying me, steadying me, and reminding me that He is not done.
My circumstances did not change today.
But I did—because God breathed peace into my memory.
And sometimes, that is the miracle we need most.
A Closing Reflection
If you are walking through a season where everything feels heavy…
where nothing makes sense…
where bills, responsibilities, fear, and deadlines surround you…
Pause.
Breathe.
And remember.
Remember what God has done—
in Scripture, in history, and in your own life.
Because the God who performed miracles before
is the same God who walks with you now.
And He has not left you.
He will not leave you.
He is closer than your breath.
This is not your ending.
This is the moment before the breakthrough.
