When Obedience Brings Peace
Today was one of those days that reminded me that God’s plans are often greater than the ones we create in our own minds.
For months, I have been writing. Poems, devotionals, prayers, and worship songs born out of quiet moments with God. Many of those writings began as simple conversations with Him—moments of surrender, gratitude, questions, and faith. I never knew where they would lead, but I kept writing because I felt Him gently saying, “Use what I have already placed in your hands.”
As I sat in a meeting today discussing some of the songs God allowed me to write, I realized something important: my greatest desire has never been recognition. My greatest desire has always been obedience.
Sometimes we spend so much time trying to calculate outcomes, predict the future, and determine what is best, that we forget our primary assignment is simply to follow the Lord’s voice. God already knows the destination. He only asks us to trust Him with the next step.
Walking away from that meeting, I felt something that cannot be bought, negotiated, or manufactured: peace.
Not because every question was answered.
Not because I suddenly knew what the future would hold.
But because I knew I had followed the direction I felt God placing on my heart.
There is a unique peace that comes when your decisions are no longer driven by fear, ambition, or personal gain, but by a sincere desire to honor God. It is the peace of knowing that your life is ultimately in His hands.
I have learned that obedience does not always come with a detailed roadmap. Sometimes it comes with a single step of faith. One conversation. One open door. One opportunity to trust Him a little more.
God has a way of opening doors we never expected. He has a way of placing people in our path who encourage us, support us, and remind us that He is still working behind the scenes. Often, His provision arrives wrapped in relationships, opportunities, and confirmations that strengthen our faith.
As I reflect on today, I am reminded that the goal is not to build my own kingdom. The goal is to be faithful with what He has entrusted to me.
The songs belong to Him.
The words belong to Him.
The gifts belong to Him.
And if He chooses to use them to encourage, heal, inspire, or draw people closer to His heart, then I am grateful to simply be a vessel.
Tonight, my prayer is simple:
“Lord, keep my heart aligned with Yours. Let me never chase opportunities more than I chase Your presence. Teach me to trust You when I understand and when I do not. Continue to open the doors You desire for my life, and give me the courage to walk through them in obedience. Wherever You lead, I will follow.”
One step at a time.
One act of obedience at a time.
One day at a time.
And through it all, He remains faithful.
