PSALM 40 — THE GOD WHO BROUGHT ME OUT IS THE GOD I TRUST TO LEAD ME FORWARD.

There are seasons when obedience takes you somewhere your eyes cannot yet understand. You leave what is familiar, step into uncertainty, and discover that trusting God does not mean you will never feel afraid. Sometimes, it means moving forward with trembling hands because you know you cannot go back to living by your own understanding.

When I look at where I came from, I remember the moments when I cried out to God, when I had to confront the consequences of my own decisions, when I lost things I thought I needed, and when I tried so hard to hold my life together in my own strength. I remember how desperately I wanted answers, how much I questioned myself, and how difficult it was to release the guilt of what I could no longer change.

But God did not leave me in that place.

Psalm 40 reminds me of a God who hears the cry of the weary, who brings us out of the pit, sets our feet upon a rock, and gives us a new song. Yet today, I am learning something deeper: the God who delivered me from yesterday’s pit is still God when today’s circumstances feel uncertain.

And honestly, I am tired. There are moments when the uncertainty feels overwhelming, when loneliness makes the road feel longer, and when my human eyes see more reasons to fear than reasons to feel secure. I do not always know how things will work out. I cannot see the whole picture, and I am learning not to create one in my mind just to feel in control.

But somewhere beneath the noise of my thoughts, there is a stillness I cannot explain. My circumstances may shake me, but when I return to His Word, my soul remembers where my hope belongs.

That is the mystery of faith: my peace is not proof that I understand what God is doing; it is evidence that I am learning to trust Him even when I don’t.

Psalm 40 does not end with a declaration that life will never become difficult again. It ends with David still crying out for help, still waiting on God, still acknowledging his need. That gives me permission to be a woman of faith who is also a woman in need of grace.

I do not have to pretend I am strong every day. I do not have to silence my fears to prove that I trust God. I can bring Him my exhaustion, my questions, my loneliness, and the parts of my future that frighten me.

And I can still say, “But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me” (Psalm 40:17, KJV).

Think about that: even when I feel forgotten by the world, I am not forgotten by God.

So I will keep waiting. I will keep praying. I will keep taking the next faithful step, even when I cannot see the destination. I refuse to measure God’s faithfulness only by how quickly my circumstances change.

I have a testimony behind me, a God who sees me today, and a hope that is not dependent on my ability to predict tomorrow.

I may not know how this chapter will unfold, but I know the One to whom I am entrusting it.

The pit was not the end of my story. The waiting is not the absence of God. And this uncertainty does not have the authority to rewrite what His faithfulness has already taught me.

Father, keep my feet on Your rock when my emotions feel unsteady. Put a new song in my mouth, not because every battle is over, but because my hope is still in You. Teach me to wait without surrendering to fear, to walk without demanding every answer, and to trust You with the life I can no longer control.

In Jesus’ name, amen. πŸ™πŸΌ❤️
