The Power of Association: Unveiling True Value

Last week, I rushed to work, forgetting my meals. I stopped by a protein shake bar next to my office, owned by my employers, seeking a simple protein shake. However, the manager refused to serve me unless I purchased a membership. I left, shaken by the unwarranted rudeness.

Ironically, today, I revisited the protein shake bar with my boss. He effortlessly requested a plain shake, and the staff obliged without hesitation. This stark contrast struck me: "it's who you are with, that people value you."

This experience illuminated a profound truth. In the eyes of the world, our worth is often tied to our associations. People tend to treat us differently based on the company we keep. But as a child of God, I realized that my true value lies not in earthly connections but in my relationship with Him.

God's presence transcends human hierarchies. His love and Word authenticate my worth, rendering earthly validation insignificant. Why then do people often prioritize pleasing those in positions of power over serving others with kindness and respect?

This phenomenon speaks to our inherent desire for validation. We crave recognition from others, often linking our self-worth to external validation. However, Scripture reminds us, "your worth is far above rubies" (Proverbs 31:10).

As I reflected on this experience, I realized that my identity and value are rooted in God's unconditional love. His presence in my life imbues me with dignity and worth, surpassing any earthly association.

In a world where people's behavior changes based on who you're with, I choose to anchor my self-worth in God's unwavering love. May His presence be my guiding force, empowering me to treat others with kindness, regardless of their earthly connections.
