A Thanksgiving of Peace and Joy.
As Thanksgiving approaches, many are busy preparing feasts and gathering with loved ones. However, for some of us, this holiday may look different. I, for one, will be working tomorrow and spending the day alone with my pets. But am I truly alone? No, for I have the loving presence of Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit.
The Illusion of Loneliness.
In Matthew 28:20, Jesus promises, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Even when we feel isolated or disconnected from others, God's presence remains a constant comfort. We may try to fill the void with temporary solutions, but true peace and joy can only be found in His loving arms.
The Fake-it-Till-You-Make-It Mentality.
For a long time, I tried to put on a mask of happiness, pretending that everything was fine when it wasn't. But God saw through my facade, and with open arms, He welcomed me back home. As Psalm 139:7-10 reminds us, "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."
A Thanksgiving of Peace.
This Thanksgiving, I choose to focus on the true source of peace and joy – God's love and grace. As Psalm 50:23 reminds us, "I do not want to miss out on the love of God." In the midst of celebrations and gatherings, let us not forget the One who is always with us, guiding and comforting us.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, may our hearts be filled with gratitude for God's presence in our lives. May we find peace and joy in His loving arms, and may we never forget the true source of our happiness – God's love and grace.
