The Power of Godly Friendships in Times of Trouble.
Life is filled with unexpected twists and turns. We are born into families we don't choose, and while family love can be a powerful balm for our hearts, there are times when distance is necessary for our spiritual well-being. As we navigate this complex world, friends can become like family, providing support, encouragement, and strength in times of need.
In my own life, I've experienced the challenges of living in a world where the enemy seeks to grip me with fear, anxiety, and doubt. But I've learned that I'm not alone in this battle. God has placed people in my life who have become like mighty warriors, fighting alongside me against the forces of darkness.
As I reflect on the importance of these friendships, I'm reminded of the life of King David. In 1 Chronicles 11 and 12, we read about the men who rallied around David, supporting him in his battles and providing him with strength and encouragement. These men, including Josheb-Basshebeth, Eleazar son of Dodai, and Shammah son of Agee, were more than just loyal companions - they were mighty warriors who fought bravely alongside David, motivated by their love for God and their friendship with David.
As I read about these men, I'm struck by the qualities that made them such valuable friends to David. They were loyal, brave, and selfless, willing to risk their lives for the sake of their friend and their king. They didn't fight for personal gain or recognition, but solely out of their love for God and their commitment to David.
In my own life, I've been blessed with friends who embody these same qualities. They are my mighty warriors, fighting alongside me in the battles I face. They provide me with strength, encouragement, and support, reminding me of God's presence and power in my life.
As the apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:12, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." We are in a spiritual battle, and we need friends who will fight alongside us, encouraging us to stay strong in our faith and to keep our eyes fixed on God.
As I look to the year ahead, I'm grateful for the friends God has placed in my life. I'm reminded that I'm not alone in this battle, and that with friends like these, I can face whatever challenges come my way. May we all be blessed with friends who will fight alongside us, and may we be that kind of friend to others, providing strength, encouragement, and support in times of need.
