The Fleeting Nature of Time and the Timeless Nature of God.
As I stand at the threshold of the last weekend of February, I am reminded of the swift passage of time. The weeks blend together, and before we know it, another month has slipped away. In the midst of this frenetic pace, it's easy to get caught up in the pressures of daily life. The responsibilities of growing up can be overwhelming, and the weight of yesterday's troubles and tomorrow's anxieties can threaten to consume us.
But in the midst of this chaos, Jesus' words echo through the ages: "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" (Matthew 6:34). Living in the present moment, unencumbered by the burdens of yesterday or the uncertainties of tomorrow, is the key to finding peace and clarity.
This past week has been a testament to the truth of Jesus' words. Amidst the blessings and triumphs, there was a day of trouble that brought me to my knees. It was a stark reminder that I need God more than anything else in my life, including my job. In my prayers, I had asked God to discipline me if I strayed from Him, and in that moment, He gently yet firmly reminded me of my priorities.
God's ways are not our ways, and His timing is not our timing. But one thing is certain: He uses every situation to draw us closer to Himself. Even in the midst of turmoil, when it feels like He has forgotten us, our souls can still sense His presence and love.
As I reflect on God's goodness and faithfulness, I am reminded of the psalmist's words: "What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?" (Psalm 8:4). Why does God set His eyes on us, frail and imperfect as we are? It is a mystery that is both humbling and awe-inspiring.
As I look to the future, I am grateful for the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, which has freed me from the shackles of sin and pain. I am thankful for the gift of salvation, which gives me the strength to face each new day with courage and hope.
“Heavenly Father, thank you for your unwavering love and presence in my life. You are my shield, my rock, and my salvation. I praise you for the gift of Jesus, who has set me free from the bondage of sin. Help me to live each day in the present moment, trusting in your goodness and providence. In Jesus' Name, Amen.”
